Not to point out the obvious

But since we've already killing him...without trial...is this really all that more repugnant?

An American-Yemeni cleric whose Internet sermons are believed to have helped inspire attacks on the U.S. has advocated the killing of American civilians in an al-Qaida video released Sunday.

Anwar al-Awlaki has been singled out by U.S. officials as a key terrorist threat and has been added to the CIA's list of targets for assassination despite his American citizenship.

I'm not in anyway defending the asshole, but how on earth is this surprising...it sounds like a repeat anyway.

Assholes are assholes. Hard to believe.

Meanwhile, I'm still just as disturbed about targeting an American citizen, no matter how loathsome, for killing without trial.

I saw Avatar last night, and its message of natural harmony vs. brutal thuggery was hard to miss. Granted it was heavy-handed (unobtanium?), but I take that as a reflection of James Cameron's level of outrage at Iraq, soulless corporations, etc.

A few hours before, at a bookstore in an upscale mall, the 'recommended' books prominently displayed were by Rove, O'Reilly, Hannity, Gingrich.

So there you go.

creating a martyr doesn't seem good. i'd rather he was in prison.
