Connected to reality watch

This came up yesterday, but I was too lazy to mention it at the time.

Murdoch was attending a conference in Sun Valley, Idaho, in early July when it became clear that the latest eruption of the hacking scandal was not, as he first thought, a passing problem. According to a person briefed on the conversation, he proposed to one senior executive that he “fly commercial to London,” so he might be seen as man of the people.

He naturally ended up coming in a private jet. But how exactly would this be man of the people, like he'd choose to fly coach?

Mr. Obama was onto to something to say the very rich can still have their corporate jets, fast becoming the symbol of contempt for the common sort
