Is this guy on vacation from being Stephen Colbert's black friend?

Uh-huh:
Oliver appeared on MSNBC on Monday and told Chris Matthews that even if Zimmerman did use the word, it was not a display of racism because the term is actually not negative at all:
That’s a term I listened to over and over on there and to me, it’s a matter of interpretation of whether he’s saying ‘coon’ or ‘goon.’ There are a lot of parts of this country where people proudly call themselves ‘coon asses,’ in Louisiana in particular.
(1) Either "goon" or "coon" is NOT complimentary.

(2) There is no way that was complimentary in context.

(3) Shut the fuck up.

Zimmerman hunted down Trayvon. Something happened. Trayvon then lay shot to death. Zimmerman pulled the trigger. I imagine Trayvon, while being stalked at night by a guy almost twice his size, feared for his life too. Really, really feared for his life. And then Zimmerman pulled the gun. Imagine the fear for his life Trayvon felt then.

The hunter could have chosen to stay in his vehicle rather than play Charles Bronson in Death Wish.

Without any racial repercussions, without determining if he said "coon" or "goon", Zimmerman stalked and killed a human being. He absolutely failed in his moral and civil responsibilities. Of course, the Stand Your Ground laws set up people like Zimmerman.

Happy now NRA - ya bunch of goons? Of course, i hear that the kids now days consider that a compliment. I don't.

At first skim I thought the Oliver quoted here the must be John Oliver, since it would only make sense as parody.
