Dancin' over the ratings graveyard

Hard as it is to believe, apparently Americans have made a choice...and that choice is David Gregory sucks.
'Meet The Press' continued its ratings slide last week, finishing a distant third to CBS' "Face The Nation" and ABC's "This Week." "Meet the Press" drew 2.804 million viewers for its March 23 show, while "This Week" had 3.400 million, and "Face The Nation" 3.938 million. It's the fourth time in five weeks that the venerable program lost to its two main competitors.
Of course there's only one solution that they'll try.

More John McCain. [cross-posted at Firedoglake]

And if that doesn’t work, there’s always Lindsay Graham (now with more Adelson).

I wonder if they've considered the utter sameness of it, week after week, month after dreary month, year after mind-numbing year. The same guests, the same approach to the same issues, the same obsequious fawning from Gregory toward conservatives who've rarely been right in their entire lives. The same careworn attempts to give artificial equivalence to inequivalent views?

This is not something at which Gregory alone sucks. All three shows combined draw only 6% of U.S. adults, so this is only a concern because of advertising money, not some grander desire to inform the public. I suspect the ratings would not change much if NBC put nametags for the guests and Dancin' Dave on trained seals and had an hour of a beachball bouncing between them. It would certainly be cheaper to produce and would be just as informative.

That's some fine writing! I'm stealing it.

Going make one small change: "...fawning toward conservatives who've been wrong about everything for the last century".

Thanks - A.J.
